Labor Day weekend is almost here!
Do you have big plans for the long weekend?
BBQ, pool parties, or taking a quick vacation?
When I was working full-time I loved long weekends as Monday was always an extra day of no pointless meetings or a schedule.
But if you feel like being overly ambitious it’s also an extra day to start working towards your goals.
I challenge you to spend one day this weekend investing in yourself, starting a side hustle, or learning something new.
Here’s how to get started:
Start A Blog
If you haven’t started your blog yet I highly encourage you to take the steps this weekend.
Starting a blog was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my entire life!
Starting a blog has allowed me to start freelance writing, publish two books and gain a strong following here on Super Millennial.
While I’m not one of my “hero” bloggers earning 6 Figures Per Month (yet) I am confident that blogging will continue to give me more opportunities.
You don’t have to create a blog and write five posts this weekend, just start it up and get the foundation for your site.
Here are some blogging resources to help you get started this weekend:
Blogging For Newbies (FREE Course)
I created a FREE course earlier this year to document what I was doing and help people start their first blog.
It can be intimidating, overwhelming and seem stressful but it’s really all about taking small steps and getting started.
My FREE course will help you:
- Buy your domain & create your blog
- Install WordPress, your theme, and essential plugins/widgets
- How to create your best blog posts, optimize images, and stay organized
- Setup and start all your social media accounts
- Blogging resources I use every day
- How to avoid my biggest blogging mistakes
If you already have started a blog I have also included these courses as well.
This course is paid but is incredibly helpful when it comes to making money from your blog. The creator, Michelle, earns over $100,000 per month from her blog.
This course has helped me understand and grow my Pinterest from almost nothing in May. I now get 20-25% of my daily traffic from Pinterest and continue to revisit this course to help grow my blog. She has a paid and free version, be sure to a look here.
Pinterest is one of the ways I have increased my blog traffic by over 900% this year! I plan on releasing my first e-book for newbie bloggers in September to show newbie bloggers how I did it and avoid all the mistakes I made!
Invest In Yourself
Investing in yourself is the best investment you can make! If you don’t want to blog no problem, there are still tons of ways to get the most out of your 3-day weekend!
Here are some easy ways to make the most of your labor day weekend (or any weekend):
Here are some great books to buy now and have delivered by Saturday (Thanks Amazon) or read on Kindle immediately.
The Success Principles – I just finished this 566-page book in a week, I’m pretty sure I just highlighted every word. Can’t recommend this book enough. He inspired me so much I bought a ticket for a one-day seminar in Salt Lake City in October. Why not!?
4 Hour Work Week – I love this book, highly recommend to challenge you to think differently. The author, Tim Ferris, has an incredible story to tell and think it will motivate you to make some changes in your life!
Crush It – Written by Gary Vee, this is the ultimate book that will help you “crush it.” It’s a short read that will get you motivated to start something on the side and light a fire in you. Gary is one of my favorite entrepreneurs and listed him as one of the six most inspirational people in my life.
Advice For My Younger Self – Sure I’m the author, but this book is short will help you change your habits…effectively changing your life. At 118 pages I wanted to create a book that was simple, to the point, and easy to implement in your life.
For any personal finance book recommendations check out the five books that changed my life here.
Learn Something New
Knowledge is power.
One of my favorite ways to invest in yourself is to learn something new.
With the glory of the internet, you can literally learn anything almost instantly.
I’ve taken courses for $10 or less and learned about social media marketing, video editing, and WordPress deisgn to name a few. Take advantage of these great sites to start learning something new.
Start a Side Hustle
If you’re not into blogging I totally get it…there are tons of other side hustles that you can start in a weekend.
Here are some examples:
- Start writing a book or ebook (you can create e-books super quick and have for sale on Amazon by end of weekend)
- Create a course – Free or Paid using Teachable
- Start a podcast
- Become a freelancer on Upwork or Fiverr. I’ve been doing Upwork for a few months now and had some good results including a consistent gig writing at Knowledge For Men. Take a look at my latest writing gig.
Be sure to check out the full article on 11 side hustles to get started hustling this weekend.
If you don’t want to start a side hustle there are a lot of ways to make money quickly.
I’ve tried most of these and they are quite effective, check out my list of 40 Ways to Make Money Outside of Work.
Here is the weekend challenge…which of them will you start?
Will you read a book, learn a new skill, or start a side hustle?
All are great options, just make sure to spend one day investing in yourself.
You never know what can happen when you start a new project or learn a new skill.
The universe is a crazy thing, two days ago I had a blog coaching call and yesterday booked a flight to a seminar because of it.
Anything is possible….
If you want to start crushing your goals and living your best life spend some time focusing on you!
Which of these will you start this weekend? Something I missed?
