Monday, the day where you are supposed to start the new habit to change your life.
It could be your new diet, new exercise, or side hustle that will change your life.
But…why wait until Monday?
Besides, Monday is the start of a week based a calendar from 1582…it doesn’t need to determine when you start a new habit. The only reason it does is that society tells us.
Don’t wait until Monday, the beginning of the next month, or 2018 to start changing your life.
The time is now!
Instead, just start doing, don’t wait until the time is right. There will never be a right time to make any major change in your life.
Mel Robbins, a best selling NYT author, and speaker says that humans hesitate constantly and that is the reason we never do anything.
There will never be a right time.
The next time you think about doing something and then want to procrastinate, use the 5-second rule. Count backward 5-4-3-2-1 and do it.
Here are five things you need to stop procrastinating on and start doing now:
Why Aren’t You Saving Money?
You should have started saving yesterday….why?
I’ve found that saving without a purpose makes it difficult, if not impossible to consistently save money each month.
Instead, know exactly what your monthly savings will go towards each paycheck.
Here are some savings goals I have used to motivate me to start saving instantly in the past:
- 6 months emergency fund
- $1,000 for vacation
- $20,000 for house down payment
- $0 credit card debt
I’ve found that automating is the easiest way to make saving a habit without having to let willpower factor in. Automate everything with your bank, bills, and investing to make it easy.
Regardless of where you are in life, you need to be saving to reach goals like these or to use that money to invest.
Investing = Compound Interest = More Money
Have you started investing in the stock market yet?
If not, don’t worry late is better than never.
That being said, the earlier you can start saving and investing the more compound interest will be your best friend.
While I couldn’t find a specific answer everyone starts investing at different ages, some will be 20 others will 40 years old. I always knew I was “suppose” to invest in my early 20’s but I was too scared and uneducated in the stock market.
I didn’t want to lose my hard earned money. Sound familiar?
Well, those few years of putting my money in a savings account earning .001% interest didn’t help my net worth.

Start A Blog or Website To Earn More Money
After I went full-time blogging I had SO many people talk about wanting to start a blog but they are waiting for a perfect idea or until they have enough time.
Let me tell you there is no perfect idea or perfect time, there is only now.
You will never know if it will be good until you test it and show it to the world.
A lot of people are waiting to pick the perfect domain but it really doesn’t matter that much!
Pick a domain that is something you can evolve and continue to grow with. For example, www.supermillennial.com is very broad domain and doesn’t represent a specific topic. However, www.bestcreditcards.com is a very limited domain.
You can always edit your topics or vary your niche like I have done. Originally this site was all personal finance until I realized that money is only part of the equation of success. You have to have the other two pillars (self-development & following your passion) to achieve greatness.
Start Working Out & Eating Right
I use to be the King of “diet starts Monday.” Let me tell you that there is no better time than now!
With the upcoming holidays, it’s easy to get lazy, write the year off and say “I’ll start in 2018.”
I know this easy because I did it every year…seriously.
I would literally say “F*%K it” and eat almost whatever I wanted the entire month of December. That way it would be easier to lose weight in January…who does that!?
I ended that last year as I finally changed my diet and made going to the gym a must, instead of a should. I worked out all through the holidays while still enjoying mass quantities of food.
I’m not asking you to skip Thanksgiving or Christmas feast but know that you don’t have to wait until 2018 to start exercising or eating right.
As Jim Rohn said, “If you want life to change, you gotta change. If you want life to get better, you gotta get better.”
If you want to lose some weight pre-holidays be sure to check out my short, easy to read e-book on how I lost over 12 pounds in 21 days (no BS).
Start a Youtube or Instagram
After watching this video Ms. Super Millennial took major action and changed her life.
At 6:30 in the clip, Daniel Diapiazza (founder of Rich20Something) says “It’s already too late.” If you don’t watch the video, it basically says you never know when your last day will be. Act as if “it’s already too late” in your life.
She wanted to start a fitness side hustle but kept telling herself she was too busy with a full class schedule and work.
But after hearing that video she put her excuses aside and started. She started an Instagram for her fitness videos (@fit_like_Lori) that night. This momentum built as she got certified as a group trainer, found a job training, and left her job that left her unfulfilled.
If you’re great with video editing, makeup tutorials, or funny videos start a Youtube channel.
The worst that happens is that you realize you don’t like it! But you’ll probably learn from it, see what others are doing and build momentum to keep going and start something new.
Get moving, you don’t know how much time you have left!
There are so many benefits to starting a website, Youtube, or Instagram that leads to so many other options.
Procrastinating is so easy to do, I use to be the king of it. I still struggle some days as well but having the “it’s already too late” mentality has been game-changing.
Next time you say “I need to lose weight or ‘I want to start that hustle” do it now…don’t wait until tomorrow.
Take massive action to change your life and don’t leave it to chance or “when you feel like it.”
Quit reading another article or another book to wait until you take action. You will learn more from failing than you will from reading and trying to think of everything in advance.
Just do it…now!
Are you waiting until 2018 to make some major change? Why wait?
