Do you want to live your best life but not sure you are doing everything that you need?
Or worse, do you know what you need to do but can’t get yourself to get started?
What’s holding you back from living your best life?
Lack of purpose, laziness, bad habits or are you “too busy?”
Everyone wants to lead a great life but most of us don’t take the steps to make it a truly incredible life.
For example, are you in a job to make money, dread every Monday and retire at 65? Or do you have a vision and are working towards it every day (more on that later)?
Are you setting goals each day, month, or year to get closer to your dream life?
Wherever you are…you can make the change. Whether you want to earn more money, have more fun, get in better shape, or change your job…it is possible.
Here are seven ways that you can start today to start living your best life:
Identify Your Vision
Do you have a vision for your life?
Prior to last year I know I didn’t, I was simply trying to make as much money and hope to retire early. But I realized there is much more out there….
When I first saw this Youtube video I started to understand how important it is to have a vision in my life.
Without a vision, it’s easy to be pushed and pulled in different directions instead of moving towards a goal.
This is why I recommend you sit down, turn off your phone and dig deep down to find your own vision.
Everyone will have different visions for their life, the important part is to create one! For some people, it may be to raise a great family, become a professional athlete, become a CEO, or create their own company.
In the case of the video I was referring to, Arnold Schwarzenegger had a vision of moving to the USA from Austria and becoming the greatest bodybuilder of all time. It’s a huge goal in the 1960’s but he said that it was the most crucial rule for success in accomplishing his goal. (He went on to win 7X, no big deal)….

How to Identify Your Vision for Your Best Life
Your vision will be your guiding force in life.
Everyone’s vision will be different, here are a few of my bullet points of my “vision.”
- Become a successful entrepreneur & professional golfer
- Be a lean athlete 24/7/365
- Be a student of life
- Inspire and motivate others to be great (check out these 6 people that inspired me to make massive change in my life)
I have these written down and put next to my computer so I see them every single day.
Take some time to figure out what short statements you want to guide your life.
Here are some examples:
- Help people change their finances to provide for their family.
- Change my body to help inspire others to eat better, exercise, and be happier.
- Focus on giving back to help the lives of people in 3rd world countries.
Everyone will have their own vision. Create a vision that is compelling and inspiring to you!
Follow Your Passion
Let me ask…which life sounds more fulfilling?
- Work at a job for the money, count down the end of each workday, retire at 65.
- Wake up excited every day, ready to do something you love. Hours don’t matter as much because you love what you do. Maybe you retire, maybe not. No need to retire when you love what you’re doing.
I am guessing number two sounds better?
Warren Buffett is a perfect example of the second option. At 86 years old he still loves what he does every single day and has for the past 60 years. He also happens to be worth 60+ billion dollars, don’t chase the paper—chase the dream. Money happens to follow.
Not a bad way to live your life.
I’m not saying if you follow your passions you will be like Warren Buffett. I’m also not saying to quit your job and pursue your passions like I did, there is a ton of risk in it.
How to Find Your Passion
Figure out what you love to do as early as possible in life. If you work full-time you should make time at night or weekends to create a side hustle to fuel your passions.
For example, I worked in advertising and sales but started this blog about finances and helping people last year. Don’t spend your whole day working on someone else’s dream and neglect yours.
Just because your job isn’t your passion doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to find what you love to do. It could be photography, writing, travel, or fitness.

You’ll find that it’s easy to stay committed to a side hustle you are passionate about since you love doing it (unlike how most people feel about work).
If you don’t have a goal you’ll hit it every time.
To live your best life you have to have a vision and set goals to reach your vision.
Goal setting is one of the easiest ways to hold yourself accountable, measure your progress, and realize your dreams.
A goal setting study conducted at Yale found that 3% of the graduating class had written specific goals for their future. Twenty years later, that 3 % were found to earning an astounding 10 times more than the group that no clear goals.
Think goal setting is important yet?
After reading “The Success Principles” I understand even more the importance of setting goals and how to achieve them with these steps:
Why Set Goals?
As Jack Canfield says, “High achievers have goals, only 10% of Americans set goals every year. We also know that 3-10% are in control of 90% of the resources in the world. People without goals work for someone who has a goal.”
I’m not saying you have to quit your job so you can create a goal and have people help you achieve your goal.
But, you should make sure your current job serves a purpose.
Your job should fulfill one or several of these purposes:
- Earn you enough money to save and invest for your future.
- Gain skills or experience for your future job.
- Be around people who will help you in your future.
Set BIG Goals
You have to set big goals, don’t think yet about how you will achieve them (yet).
Set big enough goals that you can’t achieve them in your current state. Make your goals so big that you have to evolve and grow as a person to accomplish them.
If your goals aren’t big enough to scare you or cause doubt in others your goals aren’t big enough!
Shoot for the stars, no goal is too big. Even if you don’t reach a huge goal you will be more successful than people that set small goals that are “achievable.”
Chunk Them Up
Some of your BIG goals will seem overwhelming.
Whether you want to earn a million dollars, buy a big house, lose 50 pounds, or become a CEO. Some goals will be loftier than others.
Break down your BIG goals into small, short-term goals to conquer each day, week, and month.
Once you begin to accomplish these goals you will gain confidence and create momentum.
Otherwise, your long-term goals can seem impossible to accomplish.
Usually, setting big goals will also help you get out of your comfort zone….
Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone
“Comfort zone is where dreams go to die.”
I couldn’t agree more with this quote.
It’ll be hard to live your best life if you are constantly in your comfort zone. Instead, do something that challenges you every single day!
How to Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
- Email a new client at work
- Start a new fitness routine
- Reach out to a new mentor
- Start a side hustle
When you try new things and mix it up you will be uncomfortable at first. Anytime you try something new it will be uncomfortable, but if you can get past the awkwardness you will love the challenge.
For example, I started swimming to get ready for an upcoming triathlon in October as part of my 30 Goals for my 30th Birthday.
I started out as a horrible swimmer and knew it would be uncomfortable at first. Don’t get me wrong, I still have a ton to learn but I’ve already made progress and feel great about it.
As Tony Robbins said, “Progress equals happiness.”
Don’t be afraid to look stupid or be uncomfortable. You will grow and expand more than you thought possible.
If you want to live your best life you need to find ways to earn more money so you can save, invest, and live life on your terms.
I’ve written a lot about why I want to be super rich, it’s not just to hoard money. It’s about what you can do with money.
Help your family, your friends, yourself, and causes you believe in.
Wanting to be rich isn’t selfish, wanting to be poor is selfish.

What’s the point of earning money if you don’t enjoy it?
While I highly recommend saving 10-20% of your money, I also think you need to enjoy it. If you never enjoy it you will struggle to stay motivated in the long term.
You might get some short-term joy from a new car or toy but I’ve always found the best way to enjoy your money is to create memories.
Some easy ways to create great memories are to travel, get friends and family together, or go an adventure.
Remember, we’re not coming back! You only get one chance at this thing called life.
Be Positive & Give Back
If you are doing the previous steps I’m confident you will be positive, optimistic, and enthusiastic every single day.
Unfortunately, not everyone will share your zest and enthusiasm for life. The world is filled with negativity — just look at the news.
Negative news sells more than positive all the time…instead make a conscious effort to surround yourself with winners.
Spend Time With The Right People
As Jim Rohn said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
If you hang out with negative, pessimistic, or toxic people it’s almost impossible to not have their attitude wear off on you. Instead, surround yourself with people who are trying to reach their goals, improve themselves, and live their best life.
I’ve said it before and will say it again, never forget to give back to charities or causes you believe in. Helping others will give you more satisfaction than buying a new toy you don’t need.
Live Your Best Life
If you want to live your best life you absolutely can make it happen.
No matter what situation you are in, you can change your situation and live your best life with these steps.
But you have to take action! No one is going to give you your best life, you have to make it happen!
Start by identifying your vision and everything else will fall into place:
Identify your vision
Find your passion
Get out of your comfort zone
Be positive and give back
