How do you think about money? Is money the end all, be all of your life?
Call me crazy but money is something I think about constantly.
But not for the reason most people think about money.
Most people think that money is the cure-all to every problem in life. These people think that money is the solution.
But does money truly fix all?
There are tons of millionaires and billionaires that are pissed off and miserable as someone who is worth a fraction of them.
So why should you try to get rich and make a lot of money in your life?
Because if you can’t help yourself how will you ever be able to help others?
If you can’t pay your own bills how do you expect to donate to charities or help your own family?
There is a nearly unlimited amount of money in the world, we just have to have a vision and work hard to get it.
With a few psychological tricks, you can master the way you think about money and do great things with it.
Why Should You Want to Be Rich?
Growing up I’m sure you heard one of the most common money myths,“Money is the root of all evil.”
Myths like these get ingrained early on and can be devastating to a positive outlook on money.
Money isn’t the root of all evil, that’s ridiculous. If anything, it’s backward.
Being poor is selfish, wanting to make money is generous.
Having Money Will Let You Help Others
Are the biggest philanthropists rich or poor?
Clearly, the answer is wealthy people like Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg.
These individuals have the ability to help so many people by donating their time and resources to help change millions of lives.
That’s not to say that you can’t give back or contribute if you don’t have money. You can always give your time to a cause you believe in. This year I started volunteering at my local animal shelter and love spending time helping others.
This year I started volunteering at my local animal shelter and love spending time helping others.
But I would much rather donate my time and money.
When you have money you have more resources, more connections, and the ability to contribute on a much larger scale.

Having money will also let you help your family. I’m not saying you need to act like an NFL player who signs a big contract and gives away money to every family member.
But, if you have a family member who needs some help financially you can do it.
Having money will let you and your significant other as well. With money, you can have both work at jobs you want to instead of taking a job for the money
You also can avoid the frustrations, arguments, and stress that a lack of money brings a relationship.
If you find a way to earn more (and hopefully doing what you love) you can alleviate a ton of problems for your family.
When you have money you can also help your friends if they have a business or idea but don’t have the capital needed.
Obviously, this does come with some risk but if they have a plan that you believe in you can partner up.
How Should You Have More Money?
You can earn a million dollars a year but if you spend a million you’re no better off than making $100,000.
To earn more money you have to do a few things:
- Make money a goal
- Earn more (at work or hustling)
- Spend less
- Avoid lifestyle inflation
Make Money a Goal
If you don’t have a target you’ll hit it every time. You need to set goals around money just like anything else you want to achieve in life.
Prior to 25 years old, I don’t think I had a single money goal, it was one of the biggest mistakes in my life.
I spent a ton of money going out, buying shit I didn’t need and tried to keep up with my friends.
But as I started earning more at my job and reading personal finance books I realized how important it was to set financial goals.
As soon as I started setting financial goals I had a target and worked tirelessly to achieve it. Some of my goals were:
- Save 20% for a house down payment
- Pay off all credit card debt
- Save enough to travel to 3 new cities for vacation
With a lot of hard work and clear goals, I was able to accomplish all of them! If you don’t have any financial goals it’s easy to overspend and not think of your future.
There are several ways to have more money:
- Earn more money at work with a promotion or switch departments.
- Spend less. I’m not a huge fan of budgeting every single penny but you need might need to cut out wasteful spending.
- Start a side hustle. Check out my top 11 ways to start side hustling now.

Earn More at Work
If you have a 9-5 job you need to find ways to earn more at work.
Do you need to learn more skills to get a promotion? Another degree?
Or, do you need to switch companies, get out of your comfort zone and earn more money?
Sometimes it can be as easy as having the conversation with your boss. Don’t voice your frustrations to coworkers without talking to your boss.
Otherwise, you’re just whining instead of creating a solution. Everyone will be in a unique position but if you have a job you like try to find a way you can earn more money.
If you spend as much as you earn it won’t matter how much you make each year, you will never be rich.
If you’re a spender instead of a saver you will have to change your habits to have more money. Saving is one of the 10 best habits of rich and successful people.
There are tons of ways to spend less each month, here are my three easy ways to save money:
Pick the Right House
Don’t buy or rent a place that is more than you need. Housing shouldn’t take up more than 30% of your monthly expenses.
You don’t need to name brand sponges, soap or other household products. Go to the dollar store or Wal-Mart to get generic brand products.
Pack Your Lunch
If you take your lunch to work you will not only will you eat healthier you will save tons of money. If you have client meetings or work lunches try to pack a lunch a few times per week to save tons.
Start a Side Hustle
If you can’t earn much more at work a side hustle is your answer. If you work eight hours a day, sleep eight hours, you will still have another eight unutilized hours.
Even if you go to the gym daily you still have six to seven hours left. Instead of watching Netflix every night spend your time creating a side hustle.

Money Bottom Line
At the end of the day money factors into almost every decision you make. By earning and saving more you will not solve all of your life’s problems.
But, if you have a goal, want to do contribute in the world, and live a better life earning more money can really help.
As Lewis Howes’s has said, “A negative mind will never give you a positive life.” You have to believe you are capable of earning a ton of money in your life.
Start by setting goals and focusing on them every single day. If they are huge goals break them down into small, attainable goals until you build momentum.
How do you feel about money? Do you agree or disagree?
